How do I configure my Existing Polycom Phone to load provisioning data from the Press8 provisioning server?

If you purchased your phone from someone other than us, you can follow these steps to manually provision your phone.  To check your firmware version, go to Menu/Status/Platform/Application/Main.

For Polycom firmware versions 3.3.0 and later (most common):

Reset the phone to factory by pressing the Menu (or Home) button, then select Settings/Advanced (Enter password 456 or 456456)/Administrative settings/Reset to factory. If the 456 or 456456 password does not work, then perform a factory reset by holding 468* simultaneously, then enter the mac address for the password. The MAC address is found on the back of the phone and starts with 000f2….   Newer VVX model phones are factory reset by holding down the 1, 3 and 5 keys simultaneously.  This will perform a factory reset, the phone will reboot and then enter the “456” password.]

During the phone reboot, catch the countdown screen and press ‘cancel’ then ‘setup’.   Some phones may just display “setup”.  Enter 456 or 456456 for the password.

Select the provisioning server menu item.  Scroll down to each of the following items and enter the stated values below:

Set Server Type to “FTP”

Set Server Address to ‘p.press8.com’.  Use the number keys for letters and numbers by toggling what the buttons do with the ‘a->1A’ soft key at the bottom of the screen.  Then press OK  (hint- the period or dot character is the star key in the lower case alpha mode and the underscore is the # key pressed 4 times)

Set the Server User and Password.  Your Press8 Technician will give you this.  Then press OK

Exit this sub-menu, then exit the next menu and press Save Configuration. The phone will reboot itself.

Call Press8 technical support if you receive any errors on the reboot.

For Polycom firmware versions 3.2.7 and earlier:

Reset the phone to factory by pressing the Menu button, then Settings/Advanced (Enter password 456)/Administrative settings/Reset to defaults.  If reset to factory is not shown, then reset the device settings and the config settings before proceeding.  if the 456 password does not work, then perform a factory reset by holding 468* simultaneously, then enter the mac address for the password.  The MAC address is found on the back of the phone and starts with 000f2….   This will perform a factory reset, the phone will reboot and then enter the “456” password.]

During the phone reboot, catch the countdown screen and press ‘setup’.   Enter 456 for the password.

Scroll down to Server Menu, and press ‘select’.

Set Server Type to “FTP”
